The Challenge

With dwindling advertising budgets and greater demands on campaign metrics, marketers face the challenge of doing more with their marketing dollars every day.  Although a long time challenge for any promotional executive, the BEI team uniquely stumbled upon this problem at a major exhibit conference in 2007.

While in the process of disassembling our own exhibit booth, in the midst of an ocean of union workers, we noticed thousands, if not millions, of unused brochures and materials being discarded.  The team looked upon these wasted materials realizing that there must have been a more economical and eco-friendly way of distributing these materials. 

As a former marketer, BEI’s founder, Wanda Toro, reflected on the challenges of her former marketing colleagues:

• A significant amount of budget is spent on printing these materials
• Traditionally, there is really no way of tracking or even understanding which of the materials brought to a conference were of greater demand…or of any demand, in fact.

The BEI team also considered the challenge of the conference attendee who collects mounds of information as they roam the conference halls, only to leave them behind in their hotel rooms, as it is too much of a burden to bring all those materials back home.
