Aggregate Spend Alliance

The Challenge

In the past few years, the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device industries have faced an immense amount of pressure around adequately responding to legislative requirements to disclose payments and other types of economic benefit provided to healthcare professionals that could influence the prescribing of a treatment. (Click here to read more ) Industry executives that have been faced with the responsibility of developing a company-wide approach to addressing this issue, often feel lost and unaided in their quest to make some significant changes within their organization.

Large industry conferences have increasingly speckled executive’s calendars in the past few years, but BEI recognized that there was a significant desire from these executives to take their conference learnings and engage in more thorough practical discussions with their peers. A forum that would enable executives to share common challenges and learn industry best practices in a more intimate setting was being called for, with no clear solution.

Today these laws expand to pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies and the recently passed Health Care Reform Law (HR3590) included provisions which demand manufacturers to disclose activities, occuring across the entire nation, to the public in the very near future.

Can you start seeing the problem here? Companies have to move quickly and there are great penalties associated with not getting it right.
